The Zhongxing(中興) River runs through the Zhudong(竹東) urban planning area from south to north; it is Zhudong(竹東) residents' living center and provides daily functions, leisure activities, gathering spaces, and other services via the surrounding waterfront. It embodies the cultural spirit of local Hakka settlements and represents an important blue belt space in the city. In this project, the present situation improvement planning and design are proposed for the waterfront pedestrian space and important nodes, and the surrounding resources and human environment are connected to make the overall moving line and space smoother and more comfortable.

• The railway space includes the environmental creation and reuse of railway facilities around Zhudong(竹東), Hexing(合興), and Neiwan(內灣) stations.


• The rivulet and waterfront includes the construction of Touqian(頭前) River Waterfront Park, the construction of waterfront living space along Zhongxing(中興) River, and the investigation and planning of Zhudongzun(竹東圳).


• The cultural landscape includes the restoration of Xiao Rusong's(蕭如松) former residence, the construction of Xiao Rusong(蕭如松) Art Park, and the improvement of its surrounding environment.


• The industrial landscape includes the preservation of old railway tracks as a green corridor and the restoration and reuse of Forest Service offices and dormitories, among other projects.


• Substantial environment improvements include the construction of human-oriented environment, campus wall opening, and integrated tourism equipment construction of school-accessing paths, parks, and green spaces.
